Oury Brothers with the Climbing Guide FF

Bestard climbing guide FF

We have been using the Bestard Climbing Guide FF for 8 years. We could not say exactly how many activities, but they are essential during winter activities up to 4000m. We love seeing them and seeing that they still have a few more years of battle left.

Route

Mostly in the Pyrenees. We take any winter ascent with us, whether on ice climbs, mixed terrain or simply walking on the snow. They have also been companions on several ascents in the Moroccan Alps and Atlas.

Temperature and Terrain

We have always used it in cold climates and on terrain that is more compromised. I think it is a boot that works very well between -5º+5º. For other temperatures, the type of sock would play a more important role.

It is a boot that we also use on dry terrain (approaches) and despite being a rigid boot, it does not weigh you down as much due to its lightness. Above all, our main use is on frozen terrain (snow ascents, runners or ice climbing) and it is the terrain where it can best be taken advantage of. Also, the sole allows you to move on mixed terrain. It is a very reliable boot, with good grip for traction and your foot feels protected.

Details to highlight

We think that it adapts positively to any situation, it has a firm footprint, a very comfortable last. Any type of crampon adapts perfectly, although we prefer to use automatic crampons. In addition, it is a very light boot and despite this, its thermal capabilities are acceptable. I think it is one of the best options on the market in terms of thermal capacity, lightness and durability.

It is a set of attributes that very few boots on the market have: a high quality of finishes with great lightness while maintaining acceptable thermal capabilities. In addition, the crampons fit like a glove and the ankle is always protected.

What more could you ask for in a boot?
