Test Bestard boots in Africa by Serafo

Desert Adventure, Travessa Lady and Flow Mid GTX models in Tanzania, Africa

During Christmas this year, the entire SERAFO team went on an expedition prepared by Rift Valley Expeditions in the confines of Tanzania, specifically in the area of Lake Natrón and Lake Eyasy. There we visited first and shared life with a remote group of Masai. The terrain banks with rich mud for crawling, but surrounded by very stony areas and thorn scrub. We were accompanied, as on all our crawling adventures, by our Bestard boots. For this occasion each of us wore a different model that was adjusted to the needs throughout the trip.

• Fernando Gómez. Adult wore the Bestard Desert Adventure.
• Trojan dove. Adult wore the Bestard Flow Mid GTX.
• Elvia Gómez. Little girl wore the Bestard Travessa Lady.

We then moved to a remote area in the vicinity of Easy Lake to enter a very different territory since we focused on the savannah area with a hill of thorny rocks that accompanied the entire savannah line and where the terrain was composed through small canyons, dense forests of acacias and other thorny plants, paths of different types of sand and mud and where scorpions and other poisonous species such as snakes abounded. This was the habitat of the hunter-gatherers of the Hadza/Hadzabe ethnic group. One of the last groups living this lifestyle that seems to be anchored in the Paleolithic.

Hot conditions, rocky terrain and spinners put the footwear to the test. Long walks of 8 to 14 hours a day and more than 60km on this terrain showed that the tested models are wonderful boots for doing activities in this ecosystem, the Bush. Comfort, safety and in addition these are boots that, even if worn for hours, the skin does not acquire strong odors. Clearly, of the three models, the only one that are tall are the Desert Adventure that protected ankles and animal bites, but it was also a little harder and more uncomfortable than the other two tested boots. The soles performed exceptionally in all types of terrain (lake, savannah, thorn forest) both in traction and mud evacuation, which is very important for the activity of tracking and observing nature.
